Mary Sue was honored to receive the Medal of Valor, the State of California’s award to individuals who have performed heroic acts. Mary Sue and her colleagues at the California Conservation Corps, CAL FIRE, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the Anti-Recidivism were honored for their accomplishments with the Ventura Training Center. They also earned the CAL FIRE Partnership Award for their dedication.This successful reentry program provides advanced wildland firefighting training, life skills and job readiness to people who have been incarcerated The 18 month program leads to careers in the fire service.
